 GETTING TO KNOW . . .

DAVE FREDERICK

Dave was born on November 20, and grew up in Cupertino, in northern California. He started modeling when he was ten years old.  He says, “My father would reward me with a new kit and we would work on it during the weekends.  I have been building models ever since.”  Dave stopped building when he was away for college, but after college he picked up where he left off.  His favorite subjects to model are Science Fiction (Star Wars, and TV/movie subjects), Armor, Submarines and occasionally aircraft.  He is especially good at adding lighting and motors to his models, which he acknowledges is a fun aspect of the hobby.  Recently, he even added a solenoid to a giant insect model to simulate the pincer movement in the mouth. He enjoys seeing the react people have to his work. He says, “Young people and the young at heart seem to enjoy this personnel touch.”

Dave graduated from the University of Southern California, Business School and has been employed in the Aerospace Industry for almost 25 years.  He started his career working on the Space Station Freedom program as a subcontracts administrator.  Currently, he works in the facilities group, purchasing site capital assets for project/program requirements. Dave is single, and has been a member of IPMS/OC since 1995. He has held a number of club offices, including club secretary, a position he held for five years, and currently he a club Vice President. He is a respected and valuable member of IPMS/OC and especially our leadership team.
